Current Projects and Operations

GPS - The City of Knoxville uses a Trimble 5700 Global Positioning System (GPS) to collect location information on the City’s infrastructure. In addition a Trimble 5600 Total Station is used to pick up infrastructure in areas not accessible by the GPS. The Trimble equipment is survey grade, meaning the infrastructure is located accurately.

GIS - The City is working with the County to create a Geographic Information System (GIS). The GIS will eventually be available through an Internet site.
