ParksThe City owns and operates an awesome recreation center, containing indoor basketball courts, an indoor pool, wading pool, hot tub, locker rooms, racquetball courts, a fitness center, and a game room. The outdoor grounds contains a large playground, horseshoe pits, and lots of open space. The City's future plans involve the construction of soccer fields on the outer grounds. Auld Park Auld Park is approximately 8.6 acres in size, located in the northeast quadrant of the City. Auld Park facilities include tennis courts, a lighted baseball field, basketball court, a pavilion, a shelter house, public restrooms, a vast amount of beautiful open space, and an incredible playground constructed by the community in 1993. Auld Park is used throughout the year, and is an excellent family attraction. Opening and closing dates: The enclosed shelter and restrooms in the parks are open from April 1st through October 15th of each year. Shelter Rental: The City of Knoxville rents the enclosed shelter out on a first comes first served basis beginning the first business day after January 1st of each year. The enclosed shelter is available from April 1st of each year through October 15th. The City does not reserve any of the other shelters. These shelters are available daily on a first come first served basis. Youngs Park Youngs Park is located on Highway 14 (Lincoln Street) in the central part of the community. Youngs Park has two (2) softball fields (one of which is lighted), tennis courts, four (4) soccer fields, and public restroom facilities. Skate Park A skate park facility is Madison Street, adjacent to the recreation center. The skate park has skating ramps and facilities for all skill levels, ranging from the very novice to expert level. Marion County Park The Marion County Park, consisting of some 220 acres owned and operated by Marion County, is located at the western edge of the Knoxville community. The Marion County Park boasts an historical village featuring many authentic buildings, restored with many items actually used by previous generations of Marion County residents. The village includes the Valley Chapel Church, first built in 1906 and moved to the park in 1965. Other structures include a general store, and the Stage Coach Inn, believed to have been built in 1852, a “Little Red School”, a log cabin, the Donnally Railroad Station, and a general museum area add to the village atmosphere. The Marion County Park has a large campground, a fishing lake, a covered bridge, the Little League complex, basketball courts, and picnic areas. There is a tremendous amount of passive park space in the Marion County park for hiking, and enjoying wildlife and nature.
