Chief
of Department
Fire Chief provides overall management of the fire department in
accordance to all federal, state, and local laws or ordinances.
Enforces all applicable fire safety laws, codes, and ordinances.
The fire chief must be capable of the leadership that is needed
to command any emergency incident. The fire chief is charged with
duty of maintaining the efficiency, discipline, and control of the
Knoxville Fire Rescue Department. The members of the Knoxville Fire
Rescue Department shall at all times be subject to the direction
of the fire chief. As fire chief, the ability to be leader is as
important as being an equal to any department member.
Assistant Chief- Kevin
Rodgers
Assistant Chief Kevin Rodgers uses his 22 years of fire service
experience by managing all emergency response activities of the
Knoxville Fire Rescue Department. The assistant fire chief must
be able to perform all duties of the fire chief in his absence.
As the Knoxville Fire Rescue Department's Assistant Fire Chief,
the responsibility of this officer is the completion of all state
and federal paper work that is required for all fire related incidents.
Assistant Fire Chief has the responsibility of assuring that all
members comply to regulatory standards, such as OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120,
which provides guidance for responses to Hazardous Materials incidents
and incidents that involve confined spaces.
1st Captain- Barry Reynolds
1st Captain Barry Reynolds is responsible for the implementation
and overall operation of the Junior Firefighter Cadet Program. The
1st Captain is responsible for leadership and acts as a liaison
between the Firefighter Cadets and the volunteer members of the
Knoxville Fire Rescue Department. 1st Captain Findley establishes
command of all “interior operations” of a working structural
fire.
2nd Captain- Richard Hall
2nd Captain Richard Hall has 9 years of service and utilizes his
Fire Fighter I Instructor for the training of its current volunteer
members and new candidates. 2nd Captain has overall responsibility
for training and record-keeping for all 30 volunteers. As the training
captain of the Knoxville Fire Rescue Department one must have successfully
completed the fire service instructor certification. The role of
the training officer for the Knoxville Fire Rescue Department is
the most vital accomplishment of the Knoxville Fire Rescue Department.
3rd Captain- Vacant
As 3rd Captain has the
responsibility of Public Education and Safety Programs that Knoxville
Fire Rescue offers to the community and the public we serve and
protect. The role of the 3rd Captain is essential to the community
and the services we provide.
